Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
Controls erratic or inoperative
Evaporator coil ices
Blower fails to start
Compressor fails to start.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Wiring improperly connected
or broken.
Usually caused by lack of
proper quantity of airflow
across coil.
Low return air temperature.
Low refrigerant.
Power failure.
Control circuit fuse blown.
Defective contactor.
Overload tripped.
Controller alarm.
Setpoint too high.
Complete loss of refrigerant
charge.
Head pressure too high (high
pressure switch open).
Liquid line solenoid not
opening.
Controller alarm.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Check wiring connections at
schematic.
Check filters; clean if
necessary.
Check for obstruction of
airflow in duct system. Unit is
designed for ½” s.p. (ext.)
W.P. approximate.
Ensure correct rotation of
evaporator blowers.
Check return air temperature
setpoint.
Check DX system for correct
operation/leaks.
Check power source and
input cable.
Replace fuse.
Repair or replace.
Reset and check cause.
Clear alarm(s).
None required. Adjust to
desired temperature. Check
compressor electrical circuit
for shorts or loss of phase.
Repair leak and recharge
system.
Check condenser for
obstructions. Manually reset
switch.
Check for 24 VAC to solenoid
coil. If not, check wiring. If 24
VAC is at solenoid, solenoid
coil may be bad, or is stuck.
Replace or repair as
necessary.
Clear alarms.
