Power-saving Back-UPS
It’s no secret that power is unreliable. That’s why customers like you have
counted on APC Legendary Reliability for more than 30 years. Our continuous
power Back-UPS solutions keep your important home and office equipment
running at all times.
And now APC can help improve your home or office energy efficiency as well.
How? Many of our Back-UPS products now have a power-saving feature that
will automatically shut off power to idle peripherals after your computer has been
turned off or has gone into sleep or standby modes. Just plug your computer
into the master outlet, and plug peripherals like speakers, printers, or external
storage drives into the controlled outlets to have them automatically turn off
when they are not being used, saving needless electricity waste.
And this power savings adds up quickly. Depending on your exact computer
system, your expected savings will be between $25 and $50* per year per
Back-UPS! Now you can protect your hardware, data, and the environment.
Energy-efficient power protection
In our constant drive to be a leading socially responsible company, we have
developed several Back-UPS with active energy-efficient features. In addition
to their power-saving master/controlled outlets, these units have high efficiency
chargers that optimize power use. All units also meet the strictest global
environmental standards and some use packaging made from recycled materials.
Energy cost savings Power savings means cost savings, about enough to pay back the cost of the BX1300G or BX1500G in
three to four years, or $144 and $150, respectively. This savings accumulates primarily over the life of the equipment’s three-year
warranty coverage, giving you the added benefit of saving money while your equipment is guaranteed.
The threat of vampire loads
Beware. There’s something lurking in your home
or small office called a vampire load. Also called the
dark load, this electricity load corresponds to the huge
amount of energy your electronics consume when not
actively in use. This wasteful load drains energy and,
in turn, unnecessarily increases your electricity bill.
APC offers the best defense against such vampire
loads: the BE750G, BX1000G, BX1300G, and
BX1500G. These energy-efficient battery backup units
feature unique, power-saving master/controlled outlets
that automatically shut off power to controlled outlets
when the computer plugged into the master outlet is
deemed asleep. So your computer, printer, scanner,
and other peripherals all can sleep efficiently—
without the threat of wasteful vampire loads.
Most people are susceptible to vampire loads.
Specifically, more than 80 percent of users disable
computer power management settings within 90
days (source: Verdiem
), allowing the energy
stealth drain to happen.
*Savings assumptions: Three hours of computer use per day
(21 hours of idle time); $0.10 per kw/hr; all-in-one printer, speakers,
and external storage device in the controlled outlets.
*Savings based on three hours of daily computer use, electricity cost of $0.10/kwhr, with speakers, an all-in-one
printer, and external storage drive plugged into the controlled outlets
