NMS NETWORK MANAGEMENT STATION (SNMP)

The dedicated PC or workstation is used on the company’s networks to administrate all devices connected to the network. Data are

transmitted using the SNMP protocol. Popular NMS systems include HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter, etc.

NTP Network Time Protocol

Protocol to position a set of machines on a network at the same time.

Programmable outlet (controlled outlet):

Outlet that can be remote-switched on or off. UM-Client components enable management of such outlets.

To restart a system after an interruption.

client/server communications

Subnet mask:

Mask of bits used to identify and differentiate the network address and the equipment address in an IP address.

Normally, the mask is automatically determined by the class of address, which defines in a unique manner the network part/equipment part

division of the IP address.

- Class A: internet address: 255.0.0.0.

- Class B: internet address: 255.255.0.0.

- Class C: internet address: 255.255.255.0.
